Are water connections metered?
All water services in the Awatere (including Seddon), Havelock, Renwick, Wairau Valley, for high-usage businesses elsewhere and for some special customers are metered. All others are not metered. For further information phone Council on 03 520 7400.

How much will it cost for a new connection?
See the fees section of this website for standard connection fees. When a connection has been approved and full payment received, the Council will install the connection within 10 working days.
Is the water tested for compliance with the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards?
We test all Council supplies in accordance with the the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules, as required by The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai under the Water Services Act 2021.

What should I do if I have low water pressure?
Check for ground moisture around the line of your water pipe. Also check with neighbour to see if a common fault exists. For further information phone Council on 03 520 7400.
Why does water cause my whites to go green?
Aggressiveness of the water sometimes leaches copper out of copper pipe fittings. New treatment measures (eg; addition of lime) should greatly reduce this effect. Phone Council on 03 520 7400 for more information.
