The following operative plan change has been made to the Wairau Awatere Resource Management Plan and has been incorporated into the Plan.
The proposed variation is to rezone adequate land to meet current and future Industrial 2 demands. The proposed variation addresses resource management issues that have arisen out of increased pressure for Industrial 2 land in the District.
The Proposed Variation consists of the following changes to the Plan:
- Rezoning approximately 54 hectares of land offered by Marlborough Development Company and Pernod Ricard (NZ) Limited from Rural 3 to Industrial 2 Zone on the planning maps in Volume Three.
- A new standard in Chapter 3 Subdivision in Volume Two under 2.4 General Standards (Controlled Subdivision Activities), requiring a geotechnical report to be supplied at the time of subdivision of the land being rezoned.
Include provisions in Chapter 12 Industrial 1 & 2 in Volume Two within the existing landscape provisions for a buffer planting landscape strip on the boundary contiguous with the rail corridor to assist in screening the Riverlands Industrial Estate from the adjoining rural zone and rail corridor.
