Parking fees and locations - Picton

Marlborough District Council provides timed, all-day, and long stay car parking in Picton.

In addition to the PayMyPark app, payment for metered parking can be made at Pay by Plate meters using coins or debit/credit cards. PayMyPark also allows you to top up your parking session remotely during your stay. Both the meters and app use your vehicle licence plate number and must be activated at the start of your parking session.

Alternatively, most on-street parking spaces in the inner Picton CBD are P60 (60-minute) time-restricted parking and are free of charge. These spaces are intended for short visits to local shops and services.

Picton long term parking

Long term parking coupons are available in either the Dublin Street or Coathanger car parks. You can purchase a long-term parking coupon via the PayMyPark App, under the ‘Long Term’ tab. Alternatively, you can purchase a long-term parking coupon at a Pay by Plate meter by following the prompts on the screen.

‘First Hour Free’ parking

First Hour Free parking is available in metered MDC car parks in both the Blenheim and Picton CBD. However, please note First Hour Free is not available in Port Marlborough car parks.

To claim your First Hour Free, you must activate a Pay by Plate meter by entering your car registration at the start of your parking session. Follow the prompts on the terminal screen until you see “Transaction Completed”. First Hour Free can also be activated via the PayMyPark App.
